Late last night, I stopped by my friend's house to see his band play. It was awkward, because there he was making love to his guitar (because, D, I could see a little Hendrix in your face last night) and people who have no appreciation for anything but alcohol and weed were standing around clapping when each song finished. J went with me, which was a relief. We jetted out early, ate some Denny's. I got home at one am.
Continuing on my musical tangent, "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" is one of the best songs ever. The more I listen to it, the more I love it. Seriously, listen to it and listen for the gospel touch in it. How can one man execute that so splendidly? I've started listening to Bruce from his first album again. I love artists that allow you to listen to their growth. I don't listen to many artists, I don't branch out very often. I just don't really care for other types of music that I listen to. Of course, I love finding new bands, but Rilo Kiley, Weezer's Pinkerton album, The Elected, Jenny Lewis in general, Springsteen, Wilco etc. Those are the people who I will forever be inspired by. I'm a sucker for fantastic lyrics. I love the albums (such as The Elected's first album) that seem like an endless summer night-- Springsteen has perfected it. I was raised to believe music is a craft and I never separate music from literature-- each sentence, each period, each letter should envoke a feeling and an emotion. There should be nothing sloppy, no word untouched.
In knitting news:
I just finished one of two cashmerino mitts. I don't know why I make so many fingerless gloves, but I love them all. I seriously need to work on my thumbs. Sometimes they turn out spectacular and sometimes... I'm going to sell this pair and though one is imperfect, I'll just discount the price a couple of bucks. I seriously need the income to feed my addiction. I think after this, I will attempt something new. I should make an afghan. Maybe I'll finish Gooby's sweater. I'm not too worried, he's still a little tyke and this sweater is huge on him at the moment. All I need is one and a half sleeves and the collar.
I scoped this book out "Glamour Knits" by Erika Knight. There's a pair of gloves to die for. Seriously adorable. Go to the elbow... classy gloves. I think next weekend when I'm not cramming for the GRE, I'm going to be making some long gloves to cover up my tat at church and in front of my parents... I should definitely make something a little classy for myself. Maybe if I think of everything in knitting terms in the math part of the GRE, I'll do well! Just kidding. I suck at math.
I just chewed off all my nails randomly. I think I'm stressed out. School will not kick my ass.
